This exciting Summer Camp, which takes place every August [COVID-willing], was established 20 years ago by Mama Orah to provide a sort of ‘healing place’ for children from the local communities and schools; a retreat which offers an introduction to art, music, meditation and yoga, all done with a sense of nature and spirit in the community.

Created to “uplift a child, feed a mind” in the parish of St Mary by CEO Trish Morant with friends of The School Project, Jamaica.

“Education is key for any child to acquire knowledge, but without proper nourishment no child in the classroom will be able to concentrate enough to study. Many parents through hardship struggle to feed their families, and many children miss out at school due to lack of sustenance.

“The goal of Barrel of LoVe is to feed as many children as possible throughout the school year. It costs as little as 1,250 JMD (a mere 10 USD) to provide lunch for one child for one week. We have set up a GoFundMe fundraising portal to assist us — please help us if you are able, no donation is too small.”
